A Case-Study Evaluation of Health Promotion for Older People
This study aims at formulating recommendations and develop evidence-based guidelines on health promotion for older people. It is based on an in-depth analysis of three cases in the Netherlands: Aspiring to Healthy Living, Buddy Care for the homosexual elderly, and Big!Move.
For all three cases data have been gathered and analysed concerning structures, processes and outcomes in three steps by means of document analysis, interviews, and a SWOT-analysis.The result, Evidence-based Guidelines on Health Promotion for Older People, addresses three topics: Social determinants, Inequality and Sustainability.
The project healthPROelderly addresses health promotion for older people on a European level. Verwey-Jonker Institute is one of the 17 partners in 11 European countries that have been carrying out a literature review, compiling a database and analysing selected models of good practice in their countries in detail. This work is being summarized as guidelines and recommendations for people who would like to set up health promotion programmes for older people.
The European Evaluation Report provides a detailed description of the evaluation design, its aims, the concept and the methods, and highlights an overview of the national selection procedures of the best-practice examples. It offers the details of the European sample of 33 health promotion projects for older people.
HealthPROelderly (Health Promotion for the Elderly) has a database: a European online databank with more than 160 projects for health promotion of older people (50+), from 11 European countries: www.healthproelderly.com/database
